Overheard in 3rd Grade:

student: Do you have a cat?
Me: No, why?
student: You smell like cats.

"Ms. G., Conor is drawing bald Britney Spears on the back of his "no bullying" poster."

I mean really, what do you do with either of those things?

Janvier over

This month. was. wild.

Not in like a really exciting way, but in a no time to think or ponder or reflect, just go go go.

Back to the field on Tuesday. I went into my class 2 weeks ago and literally had to peel half of them off of me. It was precious.

My reform prof was one of those really dichotomous people. She walked in the first day of class looking very serious and unfun. Turns out she is one of the most openly caring professors I've had these last few months. She built this community in our classroom. We had to post our assignments for everyone to see on our course site. I mean if you think about it, so often we spend endless time on assignments independently and never allow our colleagues to see the fruits of our labor. We talk all the time about how learning is a social process. She left us with a poem...well song lyrics really. Simple Gifts. I personally have a hard time really thinking about song lyrics when I've known the tune to a song for so long. So ponder...

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.
Ignoring the religious undertones....I mean really we go go go and then I think we find ourselves in the right place.
